Cottman Transmission Merger
with AAMCO Transmissions
Q
How did this deal come about?
A
AAMCO and Cottman actually started as one
company in the late 1950s.
Given that we are neighbors in the
Philadelphia
market, we often dreamed about what a powerful
combination a united company would be. Today’s
deal makes that dream a reality. Our combined
strengths, resources and expertise create a market
leader in the broader automotive aftercare market,
with 1,100 plus locations that will be even more
convenient for our customers.
Q
Where
will the new headquarters be located?
A
The combined company will be headquartered
in Horsham,
Montgomery County
,
Pennsylvania
, in the current offices of Cottman.
Q
How
many AAMCO service centers will there now be
across the
U.S.
?
A
We will have more than 1,100 locations
throughout the
U.S.
and expect to add 50 to 70 new centers a year. Our
top markets will be
New York
,
Philadelphia
,
Los Angeles
,
Washington
D.C. and
Atlanta
.
Q
Will
the new AAMCO continue to grow by acquisition?
A
Our vision is to remain the world’s
transmission specialist while becoming the leader
in the automotive aftercare market. Our immediate
focus is on ensuring a smooth transition for our
employees, franchisees, and customers.
Q
You are transmission experts. Why should
someone go to an AAMCO for other types of repairs?
A
Prior to the merger, both AAMCO and Cottman,
industry leaders in the transmission business,
began offering complete car care services.
We found that our technicians have stayed
at the forefront of electrical, cooling and other
driveline technology to correctly repair
transmissions and were actually performing other
services in conjunction with transmission repairs.
Our new Complete Car Care rollout is just a
way of informing customers of our expertise in
these other areas and encouraging them to rely on
AAMCO for all of their car care needs.
Q
What does this mean for current AAMCO and
Cottman customers?
A
It’s business as usual for our customers,
with the added benefits of combined strengths,
combined expertise and ultimately one stop for all
of their car care needs.
Q
What new services will be offered?
A
We will continue to focus on our core
transmission business.
However, we will also offer more
comprehensive car services such as electrical
work, cooling systems, brakes and complete
driveline repairs and maintenance.
